The Symposium on pedagogical innovation in biosciences - how to engage students in our practices? (SPIB2023) is a groundbreaking conference in molecular life sciences education that brings together leading experts and enthusiasts to explore the latest advancements in evidence-based and effective teaching practices in the field of biomolecular sciences education. Specifically, the symposium will focus on active learning approaches that enhance student engagement and foster a sense of community and collaboration in the classroom.

Through interactive workshops and presentations, participants will learn about innovative teaching methods, explore new technologies for enhancing the classroom experience, and gain insight into the latest research in science education. SPIB 2023 welcomes the submission of abstracts for original contributors. The call for abstract submission is now open until 15 July.

The two-day event, jointly organized by FEBS, IUBMB, UA (Universidade de Aveiro) and UMinho (Universidade do Minho), will be held at University of Aveiro, Portugal, on 12–13 October 2023. Please visit our website to learn more about the program, how to submit an abstract, registration details, and key updates. Members of Portuguese Biochemical Society (SPB) are eligible for a bursary that cover the early registration fee. In addition, FEBS Education Committee will provide five bursaries (400 Euros each) to partially cover the registration fee and travel expenses of participants from other FEBS Constituent Societies. The deadline for application is 8 September.
