Isabel Varela Nieto (She/Her)

Research Professor, CSIC
The Austrian Society for Molecular Life Sciences and Biotechnology (ÖGMBT) is the largest Austrian association of scientists, students and companies active in molecular life sciences, biotechnology and related fields. The society represents the above-mentioned disciplines in their entire spectrum, from basic and application-oriented research to the implementation of research results. Therefore the ÖGMBT has a dense network of members with representatives from academia, industry and related fields. In view of the great importance of the life sciences for Austria as a science and business location, the ÖGMBT sees itself as a major shaping force in the Austrian research landscape.
The Croatian Society of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology (HDBMB) is a non-profit scientific and professional organisation gathering experts interested in biochemistry and molecular biology and other related sciences within the frame of research, education, and application.
Irene Diaz-Moreno

Chair of the FEBS Working Group on the Careers of Young Scientists, University of Seville - CSIC

Dr. Irene Díaz-Moreno is Full Professor of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology at the Institute of Chemical Research of the Scientific Research Centre Isla de la Cartuja – cicCartuja, in Seville (Spain). She was awarded with her Ph.D. with European mention from the University of Seville in 2005. Dr. Irene Díaz-Moreno has worked in collaboration with groups at the Universities of Göteborg (Sweden) and Leiden (The Netherlands) on molecular recognition between metalloproteins involved in electron-transfer processes. She was an EMBO postdoctoral fellow (2006–2008) at the NIMR-MRC in London (UK), working on the regulatory mechanisms of mRNA decay by RNA-binding proteins. In 2010, she got a permanent position at the University of Seville, where she is developing research projects on Biointeractomics field, as well as on the post-translational regulation of biological macromolecules.
The Biochemical Society and its wholly-owned subsidiary, Portland Press, work to support innovation and the advancement of the molecular biosciences. This is achieved through the circulation of knowledge and the sharing of ideas and research across the scientific community for the benefit of society at large. Key member benefits include: access to grants and bursaries, reduced registration fees at Biochemical Society conferences, training events and workshops, and personal online access to the Biochemical Journal and Biochemical Society Transactions.

Neil Pickles

Deputy head of department, Biological sciences and Senior university teaching fellow , University of Chester

In addition to being a deputy head of department and being an academic in biological sciences, I am a senior university teaching fellow and help oversee university learning and teaching. I have expertise in innovative learning and teaching approaches and can offer talks or workshops related to: Use of apps for student engagement Voting systems and technology in teaching Large group teaching Assessment and use of online feedback Embedding skills in the curriculum I am research active in biochemistry/structure of carbohydrates and microbiology (quorum sensing/biofilms). I have a number of PhD students investigating these areas.
FEBS Letters is renowned both for its quality of content and speed of production. Bringing together the most important developments in the molecular biosciences, FEBS Letters provides an international forum for Reviews, Research Letters and Research Articles that merit urgent publication.
