Junior-GBM/FEBS Junior Section present Anna McConnell

The 8th talk of 2022 from the FEBS Junior Section initiative is organized by Junior-GBM, the Junior Section of the German Society. Anna McConnell, from University of Kiel, will talk about her career path in supramolecular chemistry on 11 August at 19:00 (CET). Please help us share this post!

This talk is an activity from the FEBS Junior Section, an initiative set up by students and young researchers from some of the FEBS Constituent Societies. Each month a Junior Section from one of the participant Societies organizes an online event on either a research or a career topic. This August talk is a careers event organised by Junior-GBM, the junior section of the GBM.

Speaker: Dr. Anna McConnell, Otto-Diels-Institute, University of Kiel, Germany
Topic: “My Supramolecular Chemistry Journey”
Time: 11 August, 19:00 (CET)
For more information, see the presentation abstract below and visit Anna McConnell webpage.

In nature, non-covalent interactions such as hydrogen bonding are important in a number of processes from the self-assembly of DNA to the recognition of substrates within enzymes. Supramolecular chemistry focuses on exploiting non-covalent interactions between molecules to self-assemble structures that would not be possible using traditional covalent chemistry. In this talk I will discuss my career path in supramolecular chemistry and how I combine research with supporting equality, diversity and inclusion (EDI) in supramolecular chemistry as a member of the Women in Supramolecular Chemistry (WISC) network.
