All eyes on me: advice to get your research further

Update! Watch the recording of this talk.
The students and young scientists of the FEBS Junior Section have launched the "Scientific publishing: expanding boundaries towards excellence" online talks in collaboration with the FEBS Press journals. The talk series is aimed at advancing early-career scientists and students towards excellence in scientific publishing and research integrity. The talks will be given by members of the Editorial offices of the FEBS Press journals. During the talks, participants will have a chance to learn from experts, enhance their knowledge in the field and ask questions.
Speaker: Dr Ioannis Tsagakis, Editor at Molecular Oncology and FEBS Open Bio, FEBS Press
Topic: "All eyes on me: advice to get your research further"
Time: 13 May 2025, 17:00 CEST
Talk summary and speaker biosketch
Publishing key findings from your research is the last step in a research project and perhaps the most important for the scientific community. Identifying new and relevant research papers is critical for early career researchers starting out and remains an important activity later to ensure one keeps up to date with the literature. Therefore, the more visible a research paper is, the more chances it has to be useful to others, and potentially increase its impact if others benefit from it. In this talk, I will offer some tips on steps you can take to make your research more visible and ways you can be proactive about maximising its impact.
Ioannis Tsagakis is an Editor at Molecular Oncology and FEBS Open Bio, not-for-profit society journals for the rapid publication of research, owned by FEBS. Prior to joining FEBS Press, Ioannis studied for a PhD at the University of Leeds, UK, on the interactions of long non-coding RNA and their protein binding partners across placental mammal gestation evolution. Ioannis also joined the ASAPbio Fellows programme in 2023.
