The 20th FEBS Young Scientists' Forum is officially behind us. Over the weekend, we had time to redirect our thoughts and energy elsewhere, but we are still full of impressions and fond memories. It was nice to spend time with you, even though we did it virtually. What are your impressions? Write us in a conversation. We will be happy to read them. We hope to hear from you soon :)
My yin and yang of the COVID-19 pandemic
Hello, I am one of the members of the 20th FEBS YSF Organizing Committee. I will start with a quote by Rahm Emanuel: "Never let a serious crisis go to waste. And what I mean by that it's an opportunity to do things you think you could not do before."When the SARS-CoV-2 virus appeared, I had mixed feelings about how serious the situation was, but when public institutions in Slovenia began to close, it was clear that the so called COVID-19 was a serious matter. And so the whole family stayed at home. Working from home with two kindergarten children is anything but an easy challenge, but over the weeks we have become accustomed to a new way of life and have found that many things are possible. In fact, I have never before read and written so many scientific articles in such a short time, and ideas for the research work were just growing. At the same time I was able to give online lectures correctly and dedicate myself to my family. Looking back, of course, it was stressful and exhausting, but also pleasant and peaceful. I agree, the latter is contradictory, but since life is not unambiguous, we take it as it is at that moment and draw the best from ourselves under certain situation, whether from a personal or scientific perspective. So, I encourage you all; let us know how you faced a crisis!Till next time,Anja
