The FEBS Junior Section is organised by students and young researchers from some FEBS Constituent Societies. They develop joint activities, such as online talks and other events, and share resources, as well as open doors for young European scientists to opportunities outside their home countries by providing the relevant contacts and fostering communication within the network.
Subham Preetam is a professional biotechnologist who collaborates with a creative bio-robotics researcher. His area of expertise lies in early-stage research in biomedical robotics engineering, with a particular interest in quantum engineering for the manufacturing of bio-hybrid robots. He is dedicated to the advancement of precision medicine and successful preclinical research to enhance the quality of life for individuals.
With extensive cross-disciplinary training and experience in translational research, Mr. Preetam is currently focused on various research topics, including micro-robotics, soft bio-hybrid robots, and quantum nanorobot fabrication for removing heavy metals from ocean water. His research aims to improve the life expectancy of sea animals and humans.
Furthermore, he is involved in developing a bio-fluidics nanomedicine system that leverages the latest drug delivery technologies to create personalized solutions for brain cancer patients in South Korea and Sweden. Additionally, he collaborates with researchers from India, Taiwan, Israel, Saudi Arabia, the US, China, Denmark, Singapore, Spain, Portugal, and the United Kingdom on various collaborative projects.
The Austrian Society for Molecular Life Sciences and Biotechnology (ÖGMBT) is the largest Austrian association of scientists, students and companies active in molecular life sciences, biotechnology and related fields. The society represents the above-mentioned disciplines in their entire spectrum, from basic and application-oriented research to the implementation of research results. Therefore the ÖGMBT has a dense network of members with representatives from academia, industry and related fields. In view of the great importance of the life sciences for Austria as a science and business location, the ÖGMBT sees itself as a major shaping force in the Austrian research landscape.
James Perkins is a postdoctoral bioinformatics and computational biology researcher at the University of Malaga-IBIMA and the Spanish Rare Disease Biomedical Research Network (CIBERER). His research interests include omics-analysis, target prioritization, functional annotation, systems biology and disease-phenotype analysis, with a focus on rare disease.
Junior section, HDBMB - Croatian Society for Biochemistry and Molecular Biology
HDBMB Junior Section (HDBMB JS) is the Junior Section of the Croatian Society of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology (HDBMB). It was set up in 2020 to support the career development and networking opportunities of students and young researchers in the molecular life sciences in Croatia. The HDBMB JS organise and deliver their own activities, under the supervision of their Society and all members of the HDBMB JS are members of the HDBMB. HDBMB JS are also part of the FEBS Junior Section. To find out more about the HDBMB JS read their overview post and check out the online talks and other activities they deliver, accesible from the 'Popular contributions' section below.
