We are excited to announce the launch of the Junior Ambassador Initiative, a new collaboration between the FEBS Junior Section and FEBS Press that aims to connect our communities and advance our shared values and commitment to academic excellence involving students and early career scientists.

In the framework of the Junior Ambassador Initiative, selected members of the FEBS Junior Section will be appointed as Ambassadors to represent one of four FEBS Press journals: The FEBS Journal, FEBS Letters, Molecular Oncology, and FEBS Open Bio. Working closely with the Editorial teams, Junior Ambassadors will act as bridges, contributing to raising awareness about FEBS Press journals among young scientists, spotlighting journal activities, and hosting engaging events such as journal clubs. 

Meet the Journal Ambassadors

Now, let’s get to know the Junior Ambassadors who are kicking off this journey:

  • Dr Ignazio Restivo, postdoctoral researcher at the Department of Biological, Chemical and Pharmaceutical Sciences and Technologies, University of Palermo (Italy), will represent The FEBS Journal. Ignazio is a member of SIB Sezione Giovani, the junior section of the Italian Society of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology (SIB).
  • Dr Vitória Baptista, research associate at the School of Infection and Immunity, University of Glasgow (UK), will represent FEBS Letters. Vitória is a founding member of the SPB Junior Section, the junior section of the Portuguese Biochemical Society (SPB).
  • Dr Öykü Gönül Geyik, assistant professor at the Department of Medical Biology, Faculty of Medicine, Istinye University (Türkiye), will represent Molecular Oncology. Öykü is a founding member of TBS Junior Section, the junior section of the Turkish Biochemical Society (TBS).
  • Patryk Frąckowiak, PhD student and assistant at the Institute of Plant Protection, National Research Institute (Poland), will represent FEBS Open Bio. Patryk is a founding member of the FEBS Junior Poland, the Junior Section of the Polish Biochemical Society (PTBioch).

We believe that this collaboration will create new opportunities for networking and professional development. Stay tuned for more updates and opportunities to get involved.
