Thanksgiving has arrived, and on this day, we pause in the fast-paced world of publishing to thank the people and practices that sustain scholarly communication. For FEBS Open Bio, this means a chance to acknowledge those who contribute to the journal’s success in different ways.

We begin with our authors, whose research shapes the foundation of our journal. Authors of FEBS Open Bio come from a wide range of countries and backgrounds, improving the global reach and expanding the scope of topics represented in the journal. The map below illustrates the geographical distribution of authors of submissions received in the past year.

Attention then turns to our editors, whose expert handling and editorial guidance shapes the journal’s scope and standards. The varied expertise of the board allows us to cover a wide range of topics across biochemistry, biophysics, and molecular biology. Additionally, much like our author base, our Editorial Board spans multiple regions (25 countries in total), reflecting the global research community and reinforcing our commitment to inclusive publishing. The map below shows the geographical distribution of members in our Editorial Board.

We are also grateful to all our reviewers and Advisory Board members who uphold the high quality and integrity of manuscripts published in FEBS Open Bio. Drawing on expertise from different fields, and coming from different career stages, they form a critical part of our editorial community.

Last but not least, we would like to thank our readers, from those that sporadically explore our articles to those who regularly follow us through our content alerts and updates. Their downloads, reads, and citations, are what allow the research published by the journal to be discovered and valued by the scientific community.

During this time, we are reminded of how much the journal depends on our boards and talented community of researchers, who work across different disciplines, career stages, and borders. We remain deeply thankful for their work and look forward to seeing more of their contributions.

Happy Thanksgiving!
