The 45th FEBS Congress in Ljubljana has new dates. Additional registrations will be welcome in due course, and here is the 2 April 2020 postponement statement from the Congress website aimed at those already involved with the event:
We know many of you are dealing with difficult times in your work as scientists, educators and students, as well as with your families and friends, due to the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic, and we thank you for your patience while postponement of the 45th FEBS Congress was explored.
Sadly, the situation has worsened significantly in Europe and elsewhere over the past three weeks and, for participant safety and given various governmental actions, it is clear the event cannot proceed this July. We announce now that, after careful consideration, the 45th FEBS Congress will be postponed to next year. The new dates are 3–8 July 2021.
We understand that this might come as a big disappointment to our speakers, exhibitors and participants busy preparing for the event and looking forward to some wonderful days this summer in Ljubljana. However, we are pleased to be able to inform you that all the Plenary Speakers and Symposia Chairs and most of the Symposia and Special Session speakers have confirmed their participation for the new dates, and we can look forward to the excellent speaker program next year.
We saw a lot of enthusiasm for this event in the run up to the 5 March abstract deadline, and we are sorry you do not get a chance to present your submitted work this year. However, registrations will roll over to remain valid for the new dates and we eagerly await welcoming you to the 45th FEBS Congress next summer. We will soon be releasing your abstracts for editing to enable you to update them if you wish ahead of a new 4 March 2021 abstract deadline, and then we will be running again abstract review for acceptance of abstracts to the event (including collation in a 2021 FEBS Open Bio Congress supplement) as well as selection of short oral presentations and FEBS bursary recipients.
We will be sending notifications to each registered participant soon with this information and more details where relevant, such as the situation for selected participants for the host society (SBD and HDBMB) bursaries and for the FEBS Young Scientists’ Forum, which is also postponed (to 30 June – 3 July 2021). In addition, we will be making updates to the website pages soon to reflect the new dates of the Congress, which will be the corresponding days of the week one year on.
We hope you can continue research, teaching and studies in molecular life sciences in different ways through these challenging times and thank in particular all those working in fields relevant to addressing the pandemic.
We now look forward to welcoming you to Ljubljana in happier times in 2021!
