I´m a Master thesis student at the MSNZ in Würzburg (AG Burger). In my thesis I currently try to decipher the location of Double-strand breaks in paraspeckle deficient cells by using BLISS sequencing. Before my excursion into the field of DNA damage repair and RNA research, I did my Master studies (Biochemistry) at the University of Würzburg with a focus in Infection biology and Virology. During an internship at the Överby lab at the University of Umeå (Sweden) working on an RNA virus, I first came in contact with RNA research and found my liking for it. Before that I did my Bachelor studies at the University of Jena and a biotechnical training at the School of life Science Hamburg. I´m a member and volunteer of the jGBM (youth organization German society of biochemistry and molecular biology) and in my free time I have co-organized Scientific symposia in the past.
I am the Communications and Digital Platforms Associate at FEBS, and I help manage content and use of online platforms and sites such as the FEBS Network, FEBS website and FEBS Congress website, but particularly on the FEBS Network. Previously I have managed the funding programmes of a number of UK research charities, mainly in the field of cancer. I have supported the income generation teams at those organisations with science communication, as well as developed e-learning resources for staff and students at the Institute of Cancer Research. I have a BSc in Biochemistry, an MSc in Nutrition and a Postgraduate Diploma in Dietetics. After years in London I have now moved back to Spain, where I continue to work as a science communicator.
