FEBS is pleased to announce an open call to support six PhD students from FEBS Constituent Societies to attend the 36th National “A. Castellani” Annual Meeting for PhD Students in Biochemical Sciences. The meeting is organised by the Italian Biochemical Society (SIB) in collaboration with the University of Pavia and will take place in Brallo di Pregola, close to Pavia (Italy), from 25 to 29 May 2026.

This long-standing annual event offers a unique opportunity for PhD students working in biochemistry and related disciplines to present their research, exchange ideas, and build international scientific networks in an informal and collaborative setting.

About the meeting

Established in 1988, the “A. Castellani” Annual Meeting is a well-recognised forum for PhD students in biochemical sciences. The meeting typically brings together around 50 PhD students from Italian universities, creating a focused and interactive environment for scientific discussion. The programme includes:

  • Oral and poster presentations by PhD students
  • Keynote lectures and thematic scientific sessions
  • Dedicated opportunities for discussion and networking

The meeting is known for its informal atmosphere, encouraging open exchange and fostering a sense of community among early-career researchers. Further information will be made available soon on the meeting website. Please also refer to the official banner for additional details and confirmed keynote speakers.
