For this we have organized the round table "The advancement of science thanks to the role of women: women in science yesterday and today", on Thursday, February 14, at 5:00 pm, at the Faculty of Biological Sciences of the Complutense University of Madrid.

The speakers will each choose the female researcher (an historical or current scientist) who according to them best represents women in science. The interventions will focus on the figures of the chosen researchers, but also on the professional experience of the speakers.

Speakers:
Paloma Abad (Predoctoral biochemist, Faculty of Veterinary, UCM), will speak about Gabriela Morreale.
Elena Arriero (Professor Doctor at the Dept. of Biodiversity, Ecology and Evolution, Faculty of Biological Sciences, UCM), will speak about Hanna Kokko.
Paloma Bragado (Postdoctoral researcher at Hospital Clinic), will speak about Rita Levi-Montalcini.
Ana Cuenda (Coordinator at SEBBM´s Dissemination Committee and Senior researcher at the CNB (CSIC)), will speak about Doreen Cantrell.
María Ibarra (Postdoctoral researcher at the CNIO, in transit from the EMBL), will speak about Joan Hinton.
Belén Patiño (Professor at the Department of Genetics, Physiology and Microbiology, Faculty of Biological Sciences, UCM), will speak about Esther Lederberg.
Rocío Pérez (Freelance scientific journalist), will speak about Marta Macho.

We will organize as well the Encounter "Women and Science: a path full of crossroads", on Thursday, February 14, at 7:00 pm, at Liberespacio library (c/ Joaquín María López, 25. 28015 Madrid), where we will have an inspiring meeting with three scientists:

Itziar Alkorta: PhD in Biochemistry, Coordinator of the Joint Research Laboratory on Environmental Antibiotic Resistance.
Margarita del Val: PhD in Chemistry, specialty of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology, and Scientific Researcher at the Superior Council of Scientific Research (CSIC).
Moderator: Isabel Varela Nieto, Research Professor at CSIC and CIBERER. President-elect of the Spanish Society of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology (SEBBM).

Free entrance until filled to capacity. Further information on these activities can be found at SEBBM´s website: www.sebbm.es.
