The virtual 45th FEBS Congress ('FEBS 2021'): opportunities to present your work!

The virtual 45th FEBS Congress ('FEBS 2021'): opportunities to present your work!

As a result of the coronavirus pandemic, the 45th FEBS Congress (#FEBS2021) originally planned for Ljubljana, Slovenia, will now be held in a virtual format. Join us for an online adventure this July to get the big picture across the molecular life sciences!

The extensive invited speaker program spans inspiring plenary lectures, symposia in key research areas, and interesting special sessions on wider matters. Delegates are now also invited to present their recent research findings at the event to play an active part in the scientific program. Note the upcoming deadline for abstract submissions is March 11, 2021

The general slogan of the Congress – 'Molecules of Life: Towards New Horizons’ – has been formulated broadly to enable the program to cover established fields and current trends across biochemistry, molecular biology, cell biology, biophysics and related areas. This is reflected in the abstract topics, which can be viewed here on the Congress website.

Submitted abstracts can be considered for oral presentations (as 'Short Talks' in the Symposia or as ‘Speed Talks’ in Speed Talk Sessions) and for e-poster presentations.

Why submit an abstract?

  • Poster presentations bring a wide range of recent research to the event and are a very useful aid for networking and discussing findings with others interested in the same questions or approaches. Poster prizes will be awarded by FEBS Press.
  • Oral presentation slots at the Congress for selected researchers submitting abstracts to the event provide a great opportunity for individuals to present their work to a wide international audience, gain experience giving talks, and earn recognition for their research progress. Speed talk prizes will be awarded by FEBS Open Bio.
  • New this year, you can submit an 'Education' abstract (on teaching, learning and related issues) as well as a Research abstract, from the same registration.
  • Abstracts submitted by March 11, 2021 and accepted to the event will be collated in a Congress supplement of FEBS Open Bio.
  • Registration fees are supported by FEBS to be lower now for the virtual event, and delegates can also save from no travel and accommodation costs.
  • Support schemes for early-career scientists submitting abstracts to the event include FEBS Congress bursaries.

For more information on submitting abstracts, see the Call for Abstracts page.
