The next FEBS Education Committee Seasonal Webinar is on June 13, 2023; 12:30-13:30 (CEST).

Xavier Coumoul (Université Paris Cité, France) will present a timely and important talk: 'Ethics at the heart of the training of scientists: a crucial issue for the future of research'

Abstract:
During my presentation, I will emphasize the importance of training young scientists on the issues of ethics and scientific integrity. Indeed, these issues are crucial to ensure the reliability and credibility of scientific research. Ethics and scientific integrity will be defined and then we will address a range of scientific misconducts such as fraud, plagiarism, or data manipulation by discussing their causes and consequences. In conclusion, I will highlight the critical role of education and training in addressing scientific misconduct and ensuring the ethical and responsible conduct of research, and propose strategies to implement effective policies and tools for fostering scientific integrity in the short and medium term.
