NBS Contact Meeting 2019

Coming soon: science and snow at the expanded annual meeting of the Norwegian Biochemical Society
NBS Contact Meeting 2019

The 55th NBS Contact Meeting will be held in the picturesque and winterly village Røros, January 24–27, 2019.

The NBS Contact Meeting (also called The Winter Meeting) has for a long time been a well-known meeting place for cell biologists, biochemists, molecular biologists, microbiologists, physiologists and immunologists in Norway. At the meeting, students and young researchers will be able to participate at a discounted price, present their research projects and make valuable contacts. Many have probably found their next job right here at the winter meeting.

This year, for the first time, the Norwegian Physiological Association (NFF) holds its annual meeting during the winter meeting. The Norwegian Association for Microbiology (NFM) has already participated as an organizer of the winter meeting, and we are pleased that they will continue with this. We hope that the NBS contact meeting can function as an “umbrella” also for smaller meetings, so that it will facilitate keeping this meeting as an open arena where research communities in Norway can gather and establish contacts despite the large increase in specialized international conferences available. We also have got support from the Norwegian Society for Immunology (NSI), so that the immunology part of the meeting has been strengthened.

Altogether, we like to offer an exciting and good program with great scientific span, and hope this will contribute to excellent participation. Themes that have been prioritized at the invitation of lecturers this year have been immunology, microbiology, organoids / molecular pathways in brain diseases, trafficking and microscopy, signalling in cancer and DNA repair / stability. The key lectures will be suitable for a wide audience!

NBS Trøndelag has high hopes for good participation from all over the country and encourages group leaders to participate themselves, and to inform young researchers and students, who may not have heard of NBS, about this opportunity to attend what we hope will be a great experience at Røros!

Enrollment at www.biokjemisk.no is open. Deadlines will be 1st of November for early bird prices, and 1st of December for normal prices.

Best regards,
NBS Division Trøndelag
