Upcoming FEBS Open Bio Webinar: Mitochondrial Biogenesis: An in-depth look into the beating heart of the eukaryotic cell

Register now for our upcoming free FEBS Open Bio webinar, which will be held on Zoom on 19th November 2024 at 16:00 CET (15:00 GMT). Professor Johannes Herrmann and panelists will discuss current topics in mitochondrial biogenesis research.

To accompany our recent special issue on Mitochondrial Biogenesis, FEBS Open Bio is holding a free webinar entitled "Mitochondrial biogenesis: An in-depth look into the beating heart of the eukaryotic cell" on 19th November at 16:00 CET (15:00 GMT) for 45 minutes. Professor Johannes Herrmann  (University of Kaiserslautern) and the authors of the special issue will discuss current topics in mitochondrial research, with special emphasis on mitochondrial protein biogenesis. By exploring the molecular mechanisms underlying the different biogenesis routes of mitochondrial proteins, they will aim to illustrate the crucial role of mitochondria beyond energy metabolism and how we might come to think of mitochondria as the ‘beating heart of the cell’.

Panelists will include:

  • Prof Johannes Herrmann (University of Kaiserslautern)
  • Prof Nils Wiedemann (University of Freiburg)
  • Prof Jan Riemer (University of Cologne)
  • Prof Antonio Barrientos ( University of Miami)
  • Prof Agnieszka Chacińska (IMol Polish Academy of Sciences)

We invite you to attend what promises to be a fascinating webinar. Questions can be asked during the webinar, and we also invite attendees to send questions to the speakers in advance by emailing us at openbio@febs.org
