IUBMB Focused Meeting on Synthetic Biology 2027: Abstract submissions now open

Join researchers from around the world at the IUBMB Focused Meeting on Synthetic Biology, taking place in Bengaluru, India, on 15–17 February 2027. Submit your abstract by 1 August 2026 and be part of three days of cutting-edge science and collaboration.

Synthetic biology is transforming how we understand and engineer biological systems, opening new possibilities across medicine, biotechnology and environmental sustainability.

The IUBMB Focused Meeting on Synthetic Biology will take place from 15 to 17 February 2027 at the National Centre for Biological Sciences (NCBS), Bengaluru, India, bringing together an international community of researchers for three days of scientific exchange, networking and collaboration.

The scientific programme spans four major themes:

  • Tools: parts, circuits and engineering platforms
  • Microbiomes: designing microbial communities
  • Biomanufacturing: engineering cells as production systems
  • Bioremediation: biological solutions for environmental challenges

The meeting features 21 invited speakers from 11 countries, covering topics ranging from protein and metabolic engineering to RNA biology, microbial systems, environmental biotechnology and industrial applications of synthetic biology.

Researchers at all career stages, particularly early career scientists and students, are encouraged to submit an abstract and take advantage of the opportunity to present their work, connect with experts from across the globe and explore emerging directions in this rapidly evolving field.
