The Teaching Innovation Awards were established to share and recognise best practices and support innovation in the use of digital tools in science education. Since they began in 2020, we’ve seen applications from over 100 educators from 15+ countries, spanning topics like gamification, student co-creation, skills development and more.
The Awards are open worldwide, to science educators at university or senior secondary level who are using LearnSci or other digital tools in their teaching.
Applicants are asked to demonstrate how they’ve led innovation to support science teaching and learning in their institution or beyond – that might include:
- Solving a problem by improving digital tools and methods
- Improving teaching materials and practices
- Developing new digital learning resources
Winners will be chosen by an expert scientific educational panel, and details of each project will be showcased on the LearnSci website to encourage the sharing of best practices within the community. Winners will receive a cash prize and a handcrafted glass trophy, and have historically had the opportunity to present their project in a dedicated Teaching Innovation Awards session at the Horizon in STEM UK conference.
Applications are currently open and will close on January 12th 2026, at 11:59pm GMT. If you’ve innovated in your teaching, we’d love to hear about it! The application form includes a few short questions and a 500–word summary of your work. You can get in touch with the team at community@learnsci.com and we’d be happy to help if you have any questions.
